The short version
Who we are
The Wring app ("the app") and this website are operated by THINKAD INC, 20282 Castle Stuart Ave, Boca Raton, FL 33434, United States ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the limited processing described here. Questions and requests: support@wringdry.app.
What stays on your device
Everything the app produces is stored on your device, in the app's own storage — and on iPhone and iPad, so that the widgets and the Apple Watch app can read it, in the app's shared App Group storage on the same device. None of it is sent to us.
| Feature | What is processed | Where it stays |
|---|---|---|
| Water eject and dust cycles | When a cycle ran and whether you said the speaker was clear afterwards | On the device (cycle history) |
| Position coach, haptics | Motion sensor readings while the coach is on screen | Read live, not stored |
| Noise meter, microphone check | Sound level from the microphone | Measured live, never recorded or stored |
| Speaker test, tone generator | Nothing about you; audio is generated on the device | — |
| Storage cleanup | Sizes and similarity of photos and videos in your library | Scanned on the device; only totals are kept; nothing is deleted without your confirmation |
| Screen test | Which cells you touched | Only the result (pass / check) is kept |
| Sensor check | Whether each sensor answered (camera, gyroscope, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, Face ID / Touch ID or, on Android, fingerprint / face unlock) | Only the result per sensor is kept; a location fix is requested once and discarded |
| Network speed test | Measured download, upload, ping and jitter | On the device (see "What leaves your device") |
| Device health score and monthly report | The results above, combined into a score, and a monthly history | On the device |
| Settings and onboarding answer | Your preferences and what you said brought you to the app | On the device |
Device backups. If backup is turned on, your device's own backup can include this data: on iPhone and iPad, iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer; on Android, Google's backup and transfer to a new phone, which carry only the app's settings and the results and history shown in the app. Backups are stored in your own Apple Account or Google Account, or on your computer, under Apple's or Google's terms; we cannot read them.
What leaves your device
TikTok SDK — measuring our advertising on iPhone and iPad
Outside the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the iPhone and iPad app uses the TikTok SDK to measure our advertising. It sends TikTok the Identifier for Vendor (IDFV), device information, events (installation, app launches, trial starts and purchases), SDK technical data and crash reports. This data is sent to TikTok only to measure our advertising.
The advertising identifier (IDFA) is not sent, and the app does not show Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. The TikTok SDK does not run in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. It is not included in the Android app or on our website. TikTok handles and retains the data under its privacy policy.
Purchases — Apple, Google Play and RevenueCat
In the app, Wring Pro is sold through Apple's App Store on iPhone and iPad and through Google Play on Android. Apple and Google process the payment under their own terms and privacy policies (Apple, Google); we never see your card details.
To confirm that a subscription or a Lifetime purchase is active and to restore it on your other devices, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA), a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives from the app: the App Store or Google Play transaction data for your purchase (product, dates, status and, on Android, the Google Play purchase token), a randomly generated app user identifier, and basic device information (device model, operating system and its version, app version, country and language settings). Your IP address is visible to RevenueCat when the app connects. RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement and does not use it for advertising. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Network speed test
The speed test downloads and uploads test data to public speed-test endpoints — Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com) and, when that endpoint cannot be reached, mirrors operated by Hetzner and OVH. Like any server you connect to, they see your IP address and the test traffic. No identifier, no account and no measurement result is sent to them. The test runs only when you start it.
Web purchases and activation links
If you buy Wring Pro on our website, the checkout page is run by RevenueCat Web Billing and payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe, Inc.): they receive your e-mail address and payment details under their own privacy policies (RevenueCat, Stripe); we never see your card number. RevenueCat then e-mails you an activation link. Opening it on your device (or pasting it into Wring › Settings › Activate code) hands its token to RevenueCat, which activates the purchase on that device. Our website itself does not set cookies and does not run analytics.
Support
When you write to us, we receive what you send (usually your email address and your message) and keep the conversation for as long as needed to help you and, afterwards, as required by law.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone — the noise meter and the microphone check. Sound is measured live and never recorded.
- Photos and videos — storage cleanup: finding duplicates, screenshots and large videos and, only when you confirm, deleting them. On iPhone and iPad they go to Recently Deleted for 30 days; on Android 11 and later they go to the trash for 30 days, and on earlier Android versions they are deleted at once. On Android 14 and later you can allow access to selected photos only.
- Location — the GPS check requests one location fix to confirm the receiver works (on Android, approximate location is enough). The location is not stored or sent.
- Bluetooth — the Bluetooth check confirms the radio is on. The app does not scan for or connect to any device; on Android it only reads whether Bluetooth is switched on.
- Motion — the position coach reads the gyroscope and accelerometer while it is on screen. Android does not ask for a permission for this.
- NFC — the app only asks the system whether an NFC reader is available; no tag is ever read.
- Face ID / Touch ID, fingerprint or face unlock — the app only asks whether biometrics are set up; it never asks you to authenticate.
- Notifications — one local reminder a month to run a health check, only if you turn it on. There is no push server. On Android the app books the reminder again after the phone restarts, which is why it may run at start-up.
Every permission is optional; the related check simply reports "not available" if you decline.
What we don't do
- Other than the TikTok SDK described above, we do not use analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs. Data is sent to TikTok only to measure our advertising. We do not send IDFA or show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; the Android app does not collect the advertising ID.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not build profiles, and we make no automated decisions with legal or similar effects.
- The app never records audio, never uploads photos and never reads your contacts, messages or browsing.
Retention and deletion
On your device: everything the app stores is erased with Settings › Delete my data, or by deleting the app (on Android, also with Clear storage in the system's settings for the app). On iPhone and iPad, deleting the app also removes the shared App Group storage the widgets and the Watch app read. Copies in your device backups follow your backup settings.
RevenueCat and Stripe: purchase records are kept for as long as needed to manage your subscription and to meet accounting and tax obligations. You can ask us to delete your RevenueCat customer record by emailing support@wringdry.app; note that an active App Store or Google Play purchase is then not restored automatically until you tap Restore purchases in the app, and an active web subscription must be cancelled first.
TikTok: TikTok retains the data it receives according to its privacy policy. For requests about this data, including deletion, email support@wringdry.app.
Support email: kept for as long as the conversation is relevant and as the law requires.
Children
Wring is a utility for a phone's owner and is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided us with personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Because the app stores your data on your own device, most of your rights are exercised there: you can see everything in the app and erase it with one tap. For the data our providers hold on our behalf (purchase records), you can ask us for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or to object to processing, by emailing support@wringdry.app. We answer within one month.
For the data sent to TikTok, TikTok's privacy policy describes its handling and retention. Send requests about this data, including access or deletion, to support@wringdry.app.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland
Our legal bases are: performance of a contract (managing the subscription you bought, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); our legitimate interests in running, securing and supporting the app (Art. 6(1)(f)); and your consent for the device permissions you grant (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw in your device settings at any time. RevenueCat, Apple and Google process data in the United States; transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California and other US states
The categories of data processed through our providers include "identifiers" (a random app user ID, purchase identifiers, IP address and, for TikTok, IDFV), "commercial information" (trial, purchase and subscription status), and "internet or other electronic network activity information" (app installation and launch events, device information, SDK technical data and crash reports). None of it is linked to your name, Apple Account or Google Account by us. We do not sell personal information. The transfer of data to TikTok for measuring our advertising may constitute "sharing" under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not use sensitive personal information. You may request access to or deletion of your information by emailing support@wringdry.app, and will not be discriminated against for doing so.
Security
Data on your device is protected by the system's storage encryption (Data Protection on iPhone and iPad, device encryption on Android). Connections to Apple, Google, RevenueCat, TikTok and the speed-test servers use TLS. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will tell you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. Earlier versions are available on request.
